Be Thankful, Have an Attitude of Gratitude

Thankful

Have you heard of the phrase “an attitude of gratitude”?  While we try to embrace that sentiment all year, we really want to focus on the meaning behind it in this season of Thanksgiving.

This Thanksgiving holiday, we want to let you know we are so thankful for each and every one of our patients both past and current. We are so happy to be able to help many people improve their daily lives and their health with Chiropractic care.  Your families have become our larger family, and your wellness journey is one we are honored to be a small part of.

This holiday focuses on gratitude and being thankful. Did you know that people that regularly practice gratitude and thankfulness are also healthier?  The “attitude of gratitude” can actually provide many health benefits.

A study at UC Davis, found that grateful people are more likely to demonstrate the following behaviors:

  • They take better care of themselves mentally and physically
  • They tend to engage in preventative health and maintenance
  • They are more likely to work regular exercise into their routine
  • They eat a healthier diet
  • They often have a stronger immune system than their peers who do not practice gratitude
  • They are more optimistic about the future

This month we want to urge any of you reading through this blog to think about ways you can work gratitude into your day.  Maybe it starts by saying grace if you don’t already practice that before meals.  Perhaps if you find yourself a little late for a meeting or an appointment, you shift the usual “so sorry I’m late!” to “thank you so much for waiting for me”.  While we don’t want to encourage tardiness, just shifting the notion that you’ve created a burden to expressing your real appreciation that you get to do what you were setting out to do with the person in front of you might be a pivot in really feeling gratitude for the people around us in any setting, on any day.

We love Thanksgiving.  We enjoy the gatherings that are centered around this season.  We enjoy the food.  We enjoy the football.  We enjoy the family time.  Chiropractic care can help you stay healthy during the holidays by improving your alignment and reducing pain, which  can be especially beneficial if you’re engaging in more physical activity than usual or spending long hours in the kitchen preparing meals.   We hope you explore this “attitude of gratitude” this season and share how you felt practicing it with us.  Have a wonderful season!
